Movie Bitmeter: Sherlock Holmes
Saw the trailer of this movie today. From the trailer it seems a completely different approach of the typical Sherlock Holmes, maybe it’s good, maybe it’s not. It can be seen by some like a way to corrupt the famous character, but in the other way can be a fresh start of the story (a bit like it’s being done with a lot “classic” story’s and movies). Anyway I liked the trailer and might be a strong candidate to see at the cinemas.

Teaser Trailer

I’m not sure I like Roberd Downey Jr. enough to be interested. He’s ok, but the way he portrayed Iron Man didn’t leave a positive image I’m afraid. Neither do I like the way they’ve used a known name for a movie that seems to have very little to do with the character, it’s legacy and depth.
Call it something else than Sherlock Holmes and I would be interested, but not this way. Trying to make a movie worth making through advertising and safe betting in this time and age of economic distress is understandable to a degree, but blatantly abusing a known “franchise” and in the process deforming it completely is not.
