Your article is exactly what I am looking for, almost.
All I want to is to display the total comment number statistic from a wordpress blog site on a web page. i.e., Comments: 32

monessen1963.wordpress.com/feed is the URL I am trying to parse.

Can you provide me on more details or examples on what files or code I need, where to place them, and anything else that could be helpful. I do not have a functions.php file.

Thanks for the write up and tips. I’ve been using Notepad++ for some time now but I’m getting sick of typing the code manually and was looking for html toolbar plugin or something like this. I see in your write up that you talk about Zen Coding and Quicktext and would like to try them out but with respects to Zen Coding I don’t see a plug in available for Notepad++. Which one do I use?

I read your article with great intrest, but all pictures had x on and I could not open to
see how your Notepad++ looks like and the rest.
