Google Chrome 2 Beta

Well, I don’t know how I missed this, but there is a new Chrome version in development. I’ve been a bit torn apart between Opera and Chrome. I like Opera because it just works out-of-the box. Google Chrome works too, but Opera brings a lot of neat things like Mouse Gestures or useful Plugins (like the Weather one).
Chrome navigation system is great, the top bars occupies less space than Opera even with a favorite bar displaying (and you can even hide it when not using it – Ctrl + B). I also like how Chrome handles the Status bar, it only appears when you are hovering anything, so more screen read space. I walked away from Firefox even tho I do like it a lot because of the loading times and because in my experience Opera and Chrome are faster rendering pages.
Anyway, I’m posting this because I’ve found that there is a new version of Chrome in Beta, it’s version 2 and it brings some improvements over version 1, so decided to try it out and I’m sold. It bring us some essential stuff I’ve missed from Chrome 1, like autoscrolling, full page zoom and also some bugs I had on this or that page (some pages not reloading when doing back or even some strange behavior of .png transparencys).

How to install Chrome 2 Beta
Pretty easy. What you have to do is subscribe to a channel for the beta releases. How? Google explains:
Subscribing to a Channel
1. Download and run the Google Chrome Channel Changer (Here).
2. Click the circle next to the channel you want to get updates from.
3. Click Update to save your choice.
4. Click Close.
5. In Google Chrome, click the wrench menu and choose About Google Chrome.
6. Click Update Now to install the current channel’s release.
7. Restart Google Chrome.
I recommend subscribing to the Beta Channel and not to the Dev Channel as releases might be too unstable.
Happy surfing!
