Ubuntu 8.10 Released
Six Months after the release of Ubuntu 8.04 and following the release schedule strictly, Ubuntu latest brother arrives, called 8.10 or Intrepid Ibex. If you think this is a weird name wait till Ubuntu 9.04 or… Jaunty Jackalope arrives!
I haven’t tried Ubuntu 8.10 yet, but Ubuntu is one of my favorite Linux Distros. It’s one of the most user friendly distributions, it’s based on Debian (gotta love apt-get) and the best of all it’s the HUGE community behind it. Anything you need it’s probably already solved in the Official Forums.
Ubuntu 8.10 Features
- GIMP 2.6
- GNOME 2.24
- Mozilla Firefox 3.0
- OpenOffice 2.4 (OpenOffice 3 is already available to Download anyway…)
- New Dark Theme in alternative to the traditional Lighter and Brownish Human One.
- Private folder
- Tabbed Nautilus
- New Network Manager
- Etc, etc, etc…

Ubuntu NewHuman Theme
If you are new to Linux, Ubuntu is a good starting place. If you never tried Ubuntu before, 8.10 is your opportunity to do so. If you are already an Ubuntu user, then is worth upgrading since it contains a number of tweaks, bug fixes and some improvements.
